Habitat

We meet the tree in the old forest. It is a large, imposing tree with round fleshy fruits filled with lenticels containing oilseeds enclosed in a very hard and bumpy core. The elephant, fond of the flesh of its fruits, disseminates the seeds because it does not digest the nuclei and evacuates them through its dung. A natural way to perpetuate the species.

2-Properties

From his wood, we made canoes and bark, is used to dye fabrics in black. In decoction, it is an emetic and, in powder form, a cicatrizer. In ointment, mixed with palm oil, it is used against certain skin diseases. From the seed, we draw a food oil of good quality.
